The Dutch parliament on Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected an initiative for a vote on the Netherland's EU membership.
Only 14 of the 75 delegates supported the proposal by Geert Wilders, a member of the country's right-wing populist Party for Freedom, who had promised a referendum if he was elected.
Wilders had called on the government to hold a "Nexit" vote as soon as possible. However, a referendum on the Netherland's membership in the bloc is not possible in the current legal situation.
