Obama to meet European leaders for summit on security, economics

Barack Obama begins the last day of his final visit to Germany as president on Monday by touring the Hanover industrial trade fair with Chancellor Angela Merkel, before holding talks with European leaders on global business and security issues.

Merkel and Obama officially launched the world's biggest industrial trade fair, the Hannover Messe, on Sunday. The US is for the first time the trade fair's partner country.

Obama's two-day visit to Germany is the last port of call on his three-nation trip, which included stops in Britain and Saudi Arabia.

The trip also comes ahead of the July summit of NATO leaders in the Polish capital, Warsaw.

After a speech to business leaders on Monday morning, Obama will join Merkel later in the day for talks on current global issues together with French President Francois Hollande, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The talks, at what has been billed a mini-summit, will also cover the fight against the Islamic State extremist militia in Iraq and Syria, Europe's refugee crisis, the conflict in Libya, Britain's referendum on EU membership, the proposed US-European trade deal and steps to contain an aggressive Russia.
