A large explosion in a sports centre in a small Belgian community near the border with France killed one person and injured four, the Belgian news agency Belga reported Friday.
The cause of the explosion in the town of Chimay was unknown, Belga said, quoting first responders. No organization has claimed responsibility.
The explosion occurred shortly after midnight in the sports centre. There were no other people in the sports centre.
Police cordoned off the area in the town, which is about 110 kilometres south of Brussels. Two of the injured people were in serious condition.
