Paris opens judicial inquiry into Kardashian West heist

French authorities have opened a judicial investigation into the robbery of US reality television star Kim Kardashian West in Paris slightly more than a week ago.

The inquiry was previously charged to the prosecutor for the police special unit for armed robberies. It will be turned over to an investigating magistrate.

A judicial source told dpa that the investigation was opened on Monday on counts of organized armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and illegal confinement.

Kardashian West, 35, was held during the robbery at her hotel in central Paris early October 3, when armed men took an estimated 9 million euros (10 million dollars) worth of jewelry including a ring valued at 4 million euros and a jewelry box valued at 5 million euros.

No arrests have yet been made, but a number of DNA samples have been found in Kardashian West's apartment, French news agency AFP reported.

Kardashian West, who built much of her fame on social media, has not released a public statement or posted on one of her many accounts since the robbery.

Her sister, Khloe Kardashian, said on the Ellen DeGeneres talk show that she, "is not doing that well. It's incredibly traumatic what happened to her."
