Argentina remain top of the pile of unchanged FIFA rankings

Argentina retained their place as the top men's football team in the world in FIFA's latest rankings released Thursday.

In fact, there was no movement at all in the top 20 since last month, largely because only two international matches - both friendlies - were played in the wake of the European Championship and Copa America.

Argentina lead the way on 1,585 points, followed by Belgium (1,401) and Colombia (1,331). Germany (1,319) are fourth, while Copa America winners Chile (1,316) remain in fifth place.

There has been movement further down the rankings table, however, mainly thanks to the devaluation of older games. Costa Rica are up six places to 21st, Japan up eight to 49th, North Korea up 18 to 99th and Mauritania up 15 to 104th.

Kazakhstan, meanwhile, climbed one place to their best-ever position of 96th.

Cuba are the big losers this time around, having dropped 30 places to 151st.
