Berdych takes Ivanisevic as his new coach

Tomas Berdych will begin work later this week prior to the Cincinnati Masters with new coach Goran Ivanisevic, the Czech world number eight-ranked tennis player announced Monday on his Twitter feed.

The pair came together only weeks after 2001 Wimbledon winner Ivanisevic split with fellow Croatian player Marin Cilic after three years of coaching. Cilic won the 2014 US Open while working with his famed compatriot.

Until last May, Berdych was coached by Dany Vallverdu, once a part of Andy Murray's team.

"I am delighted to announce a new addition to my team," Berdych, winner of 12 career titles, wrote.

"Two months ago, I started working with Luka Kutanjac and I feel that, since then, my game has (improved) and my form has been going in the right direction. In order to further improve, I have decided to add Goran Ivanisevic to the team already in Cincinnati.

"I feel that Goran, with his playing and coaching experience, as well as his energy, is a perfect addition to the team. I’m feeling excited about new challenges," Berdych added.
