Cilic, Ivanisevic break up Croatian dream team

Marin Cilic and celebrity coach Goran Ivanisevic have ended their relationships after three years and a US Open title, the ATP number 12 said.

"I am no longer working with my coach Goran Ivanisevic," Cilic said on his website Thursday. "We started to work together in September 2013 and we had a lot of success during that period, especially winning the US Open in 2014."

Cilic, who led Croatia into the Davis Cup semi-finals last weekend as he orchestrated a comeback against the United States in Portland, called his work with 2001 Wimbledon winner Ivanisevic "a huge privilege.

"I enjoyed our work all this time and Goran helped me to reach many goals. Unfortunately, the road we were sharing on this journey is separating and I wish only the best for Goran in the future," he said.

Cilic went through a rough patch prior to his Davis Cup fightback, losing two consecutive matches while leading two sets to love, including a Wimbledon quarter-final against Roger Federer.

Cilic will travel coachless to next week's Toronto Masters event prior to competing at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
