Confident Croatians: Spain win no upset

Croatia's Euro 2016 win over holders Spain was no upset, forward Nikola Kalinic said on Wednesday as he stressed his team's class.

Croatia came from behind to win 2-1 on Tuesday from Ivan Perisic's late strike and were awarded with first place in their group ahead of the Iberians, and a possibly easier path in the knock-out rounds.

"I wouldn't call this a sensation. We know how much quality we have," Fiorentina's Kalinic told a news conference at Croatia's Euro base camp.

"It shows the depth in our squad. We can measure ourselves against any team in Europe and the world."

Croatia beat Spain although playmaker Luka Modric and forward Mario Mandzukic were injured. Ante Cacic's team is unbeaten with two wins and a draw and is considered a contender for the title.

Their next match is a last 16 game Saturday in Lens against a yet to be determined third-place finisher. If they win they face Switzerland or Poland in the quarters.
