Ibrahimovic double helps Manchester United maintain perfect start

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored both goals as Manchester United beat Southampton 2-0 on Friday to maintain their perfect start to the season.

The Swede opened the scoring with a header on 32 minutes and converted a penalty early in the second half as United made it two wins out of two in the Premier League.

"If the team does good, the individuals do good," Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports.

"I try to do what I'm best at, helping my team-mates, creating chances and scoring goals.

"I'm happy for the team. We are becoming better and better. It's a good start. We need to get used to winning, the mental part is important.

"I need to get to know everybody and the way we play. Everything is new. It's like a big parcel. We need to put the parcel together."

United manager Jose Mourinho said United were quickly finding their feet.

"We were good enough to deserve the victory and be in control," he said. "We won comfortably and the result could have been bigger.

"It's a natural evolution, step by step. It's impossible to demand more from the boys. It's a great spirit with everyone working really hard."

Record signing Paul Pogba made his United debut and made more passes, enjoyed more touches and won more tackles than any of his team-mates.

But Ibrahimovic stole the limelight with a superb performance.

First he powered Wayne Rooney's cross with a downward header that found the corner and then, after Luke Shaw was fouled by Jordy Clasie on 52 minutes, he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Southampton had not lost at Old Trafford since 2013 but though they had nine shots on goal, they had just one shot on target.
