Incidents and sanctions around Croatia games

Croatian fans have caused trouble on various occasions at national team games.

Following are incidents since the start of Euro 2016 qualifying, and the sanctions by the governing bodies.

- November 2014: The qualifier against Italy in Liman is close to be abandoned after Croatian fans threw fireworks onto the pitch and chant racist slogans. UEFA fines them 80,000 euros and partially closes their stadium for the next home game.

- March 2015: Croatian fans sing racist chants again at the next home game against Norway. UEFA fines them 50,000 euros and orders Croatia to play the next game behind closed doors.

- June 2015: The field ahead of the game with Italy in Split is prepared with the help of chemicals that it shows a large swastika. UEFA docks Croatia one point, imposes two more games behind closed doors and a fine of 100,000 euros.

- March 2016: Croatian fans sing discriminatory slogans during friendlies against Israel and Hungary. FIFA orders them to play the first two 2018 World Cup qualifying home games behind closed doors.

- June 2016: Croatia's Euro 2016 game against the Czech Republic is halted for four minutes as Croatian fans throw flares onto the pitch and fight among themselves in the stands. Croatia are fined 100,000 euros and are prohibited from selling tickets to fans identified as hooligans for the rest of the tournament.
