Japanese judo star Mashu Baker wins gold in 90kg class

Japanese star judoka Mashu Baker wins the gold medal in the men's 90-kilogram class at the Olympic Games.

The top-seeded Japanese-US athlete defeated Georgia's Varlam Liparteliani by a yuko score for victory.

While Liparteliani walked away with silver, South Korean world champion Gwak Dong Han and China's Cheng Xunzhao won bronze.

In the women's 70-kilogram class, Japan's Haruka Tachimoto won gold and relegated 2013 and 2014 world champion Yuri Alvear from Colombia to silver, while Britain's Sally Conway and Germany's Laura Vargas Koch clinched bronze medals.
