Manchester City staff evacuated from plane after smoke incident

A plane carrying Manchester City staff had to be evacuated on Monday when smoke was seen in the cabin, the BBC reported.

No players were on the plane, which was also carrying media headed to a Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest in Romania.

The incident caused a 40-minute delay and Daniel Taylor, a journalist with The Guardian newspaper, said smoke had filled the cabin.

"Four fire engines with sirens on now coming to plane," Taylor posted on Twitter. "Cabin had started to fill with smoke. Everyone from City on runway."

City's players and management had already flown to Romania on Sunday.
