Prevc secures ski jump World Cup title with 13th win of season

Four Hills tournament winner Peter Prevc of Slovenia captured his maiden World Cup title in Almaty Sunday.

Prevc made sure of his 13th win of the season to equal a season win record set by Austria's Gregor Schlierenzauer in 2008-2009.

Prevc garnered 325.9 points with jumps of 139.5 and 139 metres on the large hill.

Severin Freund of Germany set a course record jump of 141.5 metres after a first jump of 137 metres to finish second on 314.3 points.

Norway's Daniel Andre Tande (140.5/139.5) was third on 310.9 points.

Prevc advances to an unassailable 1,898 points in the World Cup standings with six events remaining. Freund has 1,279 points and Michael Hayboeck of Austria 1,143.

Magnus Krogh led a Norwegian one-two in the Nordic combined World Cup event in Val di Fiemme, Italy.

Krogh posted 31 minutes 33.5 seconds after the ski jump and 10-kilometre cross country, finishing 5.8 seconds ahead of Jorgen Graabak.

Germany's Fabian Riessle was third ahead of compatriot Eric Frenzel, who on Saturday made sure of his fourth successive World Cup title.
