Slick Barcelona win 2-0 in Super Cup first leg

Barcelona are well placed to win the Spanish Super Cup after an authoritative 2-0 win at Sevilla Sunday in the first leg, on important away goals in the second half from Luis Suarez and supersub Munir.

"We played a great second half and really deserved this win," Suarez said.

"Sevilla are never an easy team to play against but we controlled them very well and didn't let them create many chances."

Meanwhile, Franco Vazquez, who is one of Sevilla's many summer signings, insisted that the trophy was not yet decided.

"Of course, this is not a good result for us," the Italian international said.

"Now we have to go to Barcelona and win by at least two goals. That will be difficult, but in football almost anything is possible."

Barca, who have not won the Super Cup since 2013, had to reshuffle in the first half after injuries to veterans Jeremy Mathieu and Andres Iniesta.

Both players will almost certainly miss Wednesday's second leg in Barcelona. They will undergo medical checks Monday.

They were replaced by youngsters Lucas Digne and Denis Suarez, who both made impressive debuts for their new club.

Denis Suarez set up Barca's goal in the 58th minute with a centre for Arda Turan, who cleverly chested the ball down for Luis Suarez to score.

Nine minutes from the end, with Sevilla pouring forward for an equalizer, Lionel Messi on the break smartly set up sub Munir to make it 2-0 with a cool finish.

Barca's win would have been even clearer had it not been for a string of sharp saves from Sevilla's international goalkeeper Sergio Rico.
