16 bodies found in south-west China village

Sixteen people, including three children, were found dead in their homes in a village in south-westen China, state media reported Thursday.

Police said that the victims - both men and women - were from six households in Yema village in the province of Yunnan, according to Xinhua news agency.

They had been killed, according to an initial investigation, although the report gave no details of how the people died.

A man was arrested hours later about 200 kilometres from the provincial capital Kunming, Xinhua said, without providing further information.

The bodies were discovered on Thursday morning after an alert was raised with local authorities.
