Bus crash kills 14, including six children, in southern Turkey

A bus accident has left 14 people dead, including six children, after the vehicle collided with a car and was knocked off the road into an irrigation canal in southern Turkey.

At least 26 people were injured in the accident, CNN Turk reported, which took place on Sunday on the road between Osmaniye and Hatay.

The pupils were returning from a trip to Karatepe, a popular archeological site with a Hittite-era fortress. Parents and teachers were on the bus with the children.

Five of the six children killed were school pupils.

Investigators are looking at whether the bus driver had been careless, news reports said.
