Car bomb kills three people outside Mogadishu restaurant

A car bomb blew up outside a restaurant in the Somali capital Mogadishu, killing three people and wounding seven others, a senior police officer told dpa on Saturday.

The Islamist terrorist group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place near the popular Blue Sky restaurant.

The target of the explosion was the Somali security forces who frequent the eatery, the group said on pro-insurgent radio Andalus.

Several security officers were among the injured, the police officer told dpa.

Witnesses reported heavy damage to the restaurant.
