At least five killed in suicide bombing in eastern Afghanistan

At least five civilians were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a bakery in eastern Afghanistan's Paktika province on Monday, officials said.

"Six other civilians were wounded in the suicide attack in Miyakhel Bazaar of the district with the same name," said Nisar Ahmad Abdul Rahimzai, head of Paktika police's criminal investigation department.

A local provincial council member, Bakhtyar Gul Himat, said that six people died and 10 others were wounded in the attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.

The suicide bombing was the second in Afghanistan on Monday, with the first killing three and wounding 18 in northern Balkh province when a suicide bomber blew himself up near an army transport vehicle.
