Iranian nuclear negotiator arrested, released on bail

A member of the negotiating team which agreed the Iranian nuclear deal was arrested and released on bail, ISNA news agency reported Sunday.

Judiciary spokesman Gholam-Hussein Mohseni-Edzehi did not reveal the name of the man or the charges against him, according to the report.

However, reports that Abdol Rassul Dori Isfahan - a member of the nuclear negotiation team during talks with world powers between 2013 and 2015 - had been arrested appeared in the Iranian media last week.

As an economics expert, Isfahan was responsible for discussions about banking arrangements after the end of sanctions but did not have a leading role in the negotiations.

The Foreign Ministry in Tehran has neither confirmed nor denied the arrest.
