Rockets fired near Turkish resort town on day of multiple attacks

Two rockets were fired Friday and struck a road near the Turkish tourist resort area of Antalya, the Dogan news agency reported, on a day that saw multiple bombings and attacks.

It was unclear who fired the rockets, one of which fell in an open area and the other on a fishing warehouse, Dogan reported. It noted there were no injuries in the incident, which happened in Turkey's south-west, on the Mediterranean Sea.

Separately, three Turkish soldiers were killed Friday by a roadside explosion in the south-east, part of a series of attacks on the security forces.

The attack on the road linking Mardin and Diyarbakir provinces also injured three soldiers, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

Earlier, one soldier was killed and 11 injured in attacks in Van and Hakkari provinces, also in the restive, mostly Kurdish region of the country.

Fighting between the state's security forces and Kurdish militants restarted in July 2015, after a two-year ceasefire broke down.

The renewed conflict has left more than 2,000 people confirmed dead, adding to the more than 40,000 left dead since the start of the violence more than 30-years ago. Kurds often complain of systemic discrimination in Turkey.
