Syria slams Turkish incursion as a breach of sovereignty

The Syrian government says the Turkish operation in northern Syria is a "flagrant breach" of the country's sovereignty.

"Fighting terrorism does not mean expelling Daesh [Islamic State] and having terrorist organizations, directly supported by Turkey, in its place," Syria's official news agency SANA says, citing a Foreign Ministry statement, in a reference to Syrian rebels.

"The Syrian Arab republic stresses that fighting terrorism from any side on the Syrian lands should have been coordinated with the Syrian government and the Syrian army."
