Syrian army declares partial truce in Damascus, Latakia

The Syrian army is declaring a partial truce in parts of Damascus for 24 hours and in the northern Latakia area for 72 hours, the state-run SANA news agency reports.

The cessation of violence will go into effect at 1 am (2200 GMT on Friday), the report says.

The report does not mention Aleppo, Syria's second city, which is facing intense violence, including attacks on hospitals.
