Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu slams Washington after photos emerged of US soldiers in northern Syria wearing the insignia of the main Kurdish militia in the country, as they jointly move to attack Islamic State.
"It is unacceptable that US soldiers wear the emblem of a terrorist organization," Cavusoglu says in Antalya. Turkey considers the Kurdish YPG militia as a terrorist group, but its fighters are the main ally of the US pushing back Islamic State on the ground.
The foreign minister says the US soldiers might as well be wearing the logo of al-Qaeda in Syria, or using "the emblem of Boko Haram if they go to Africa."
He recalls that the US and Turkey remain allies.
