UN secretary general welcomes implementation day

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon welcomes the implementation of the Iran nuclear agreement.

"This is a significant milestone that reflectsthe good faith effort by all parties to fulfil their agreed commitments," Ban says in a statement.

The deal between Iran and six world powers "demonstrates that international proliferation concerns are best addressed through dialogue and patient diplomacy," he says.

Ban "hopes the success of this agreement contributes to greater regional and international cooperation for peace, security and stability in the region and beyond."
